What must it be like to have no sight and run your hands over these ingenious tactile photographs?

I wonder if it is more confusing than converting the image to a raised line drawing? The image is made of light and shadow, but the relief that that process reveals is not necessarily the actual contours, but shading that visually defines the shape.

If you are blind, how would you equate a shadow which defines a shape as meaning the same thing as the physical shape itself?
