As for what went down at the gig, well, it was an interesting and memorable event, to say the least. The big bombshell was Ryan Wood's announcement to the audience that he will be retiring from Ufology in 5 years time - if the mystery has not been solved. I asked Ryan if he was joking. He was not. He assured me that if the mystery still exists in half a decade from now, he'll be walking away from it.
Wood should save himself five years of work and walk away now. The UFO phenomenon might have myriad intentions, but I'm personally convinced "disclosure" it not among them. True, government agencies might reveal tantalizing details. But rather than solve the mystery, they're likely to merely intensify it.

ANYWAY, WHAT WOULD A "SOLUTION" TO THE UFO MYSTERY LOOK LIKE?...
It strikes me that it would HAVE to be something like aliens landing on the White House lawn and announcing that they were bringing THE True Religion of the Galaxy to Human beings....
That, or the U.S. government would disclose that, yes folks, it really DOES have alien spacecraft wreckage in its pissession....
As neither of these events strikes me as being very likely in the foreseeable future, and as MORE sightings, abduction experiences, other Encounters, rumors, theorizing, etc., in the absence of so-called "hard evidence" is NEVER going to "solve" ANYTHING....
Is it unreasonable to predict that the "UFO Mystery" will not be solved within the next five years or, for that matter, within the foreseeable future?....
That should be "possession" but maybe "pissession" was Freudian slip!...
I not-so-privately think Wood has backed himself into a corner with the MJ-12 thing and his "five more years" is a quiet way of getting out without enduring excessive ridicule.
Five years is still plenty of time to ridicule him excessively....
I sent an email to Ryan Wood in 1999, referencing Barry Greenwood's UFO Historical Revue report on MJ-12 (see www.cufon.org, UHR#3, Jan. 1999, especially his discussion under the subtitle "A Fatal Flaw!"), pointing out how, within the MJ-12 document, "Majestic 12 Project - 1st Annual Report," which was supposedly created in 1952, according to the Woods, there is a curious reference to the "mass disappearance" of the One Fourth Norfolk Regiment in Turkey during WWI in a cloud of fog. Greenwood's research established that "Now in light of these facts, how is it that a 1952 MJ-12 document recounts a flawed version of a story, which was unknown before 1965, in fact a story unique to 1965, 13 years after the document's claimed authorship????? The MJ-12 version is based more upon 1960s UFO pulp and newsletter accounts than it is on historical record."
Essentially, when this was pointed out to Ryan Wood, his response was that even if the ""Majestic 12 Project - 1st Annual Report" was fatally flawed by the inclusion of this bogus "disappearance" of British troops during WWI, that that fact did not necessarily rule out the _other_ MJ-12 documents from being genuine! Please review the entire article Barry wrote up for UHR #3 in toto, for many more details which expose MJ-12 as a fraud and a hoax.
If this is the kind of "scholarship" the Woods represent as legitimate, then all I can posit is that they have become so vested in their beliefs and very inadequate "research methodologies", plus the fact that they got over $100,000 from Joe Firmage to begin the "research" on MJ-12 documents, and also make money off bogus DVD's and reports they have created over the years of their efforts regarding the MJ-12 papers, that they cannot admit now or retreat and fess up that their entire effort has amounted to nothing, and is a fraud, based on a Richard C. Doty hoax, as Brad Sparks, Barry Greenwood, Bob Pratt, and several other researchers have very thoroughly documented.
MJ-12 was and is DOA, and has been a terrible diversion of funding, time, and research effort, all for the purpose of either a Doty orginated hoax and/or USAF AFOSI disinformation, infiltration, and disruption campaign against the ufo research community and individual ufo researchers.
I hope that one day, the complete truth of this domestic psychological operation will come out, be documented, and the military personnel up the chain of command above Doty, Collins, and "Falcon" will be exposed, sued, convicted, and held to account for their crimes, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I wish the Bennewitz family would file a civil suit against Doty, Moore, Collins, et al, to establish through the legal discovery process exactly who orginated their efforts to discredit and destroy Paul Bennewitz, but I hear they would rather try to forget the whole monstrous affair, as they have already gone through enough grief, and probably realize it's very hard to expose classified military intelligence domestic psyop campaigns and to sue the US government, which created laws to avoid responsibility for their crimes in this kind and many other crimes against US citizens.
